Don Milton Stewart, 87, passed away on March 20, 2025, in Lake Charles, Louisiana. He was born at home on October 15, 1937, in Montalba, Texas to Alsia Marion Stewart and Laura Thompson Stewart. He attended Palestine High School where he was a three-sport athlete – football, basketball and track. He attended Southern Methodist University on a football and track scholarship. At one point, he held the world record for high jump. He met Martha Davis in 1957, and they married on June 28, 1958, at the First Presbyterian Church in Houston, Texas.

Don was selected in the tenth round of the 1959 NFL Draft by the Baltimore Colts and received a $1,000 signing bonus. Don and Martha eventually moved to Houston, and he entered the Data Processing business in the Insurance industry. Don was an active member of the Insurance Accounting and Systems Association (IASA) where he eventually became President.

The family moved to Sugar Land, Texas on Thanksgiving Day 1973. Don and Martha joined the First Presbyterian Church of Sugar Land where he became an Elder. It was during this time in Sugar Land where he impacted so many young lives. He was the kindest man and always had a smile on his face. He was a great friend and considered one in a trillion.

He was called home to the Lord peacefully with his wife of almost 67 years and other family members by his side. Those left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Martha Davis Stewart; his sons, Greg Stewart (Cindy) and Mike Stewart (Carrie); and his daughter, Laura Stewart. He left behind grandchildren Lauren Siegrist, Tess Stewart, Shaid Stewart, Alexis Stewart, and Danielle “Dani” Donovan. Other grandchildren include Collin Beck, Aaron Beck, Garrett Stewart, Ellia Donovan, Creighton Belt, and Bonnie McCollough along with four great grandchildren.
