Donald Vester Crum

Lake Charles ~ Donald Vester Crum was born May 30, 1943 in St. Louis MO, the son of the late Vester and Dorothy Crum, passed away September 7, 2017 in Lake Charles, LA.
Donald was a graduate of Central High School, in St. Louis MO, of Texas Bible College, with a Bachelor of Theology, and of Northeastern Oklahoma State University in Tahlequah Oklahoma, with a Bachelor in Science. He received his master’s in Special Education from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches LA.
Donald and Rachel Pete were joined in marriage on Aug. 31, 1963 at English Bayou Pentecostal Church in Lake Charles LA.
He was a pastor, journeyman carpenter, a journeyman millwright, an educator and loved to dabble in real estate.
He won many swimming awards while in high school. He loved the outdoors, hunting, raising dogs and growing a garden.
Whatever Donald put his hand to do, he would be passionate about it. He loved God and was continually looking for opportunities to share what he believed.
He traveled the Northwestern region of the US preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ. He became pastor of the Pentecostal church in Troy, MO and then served as pastor of the First Pentecostal Church in Boulder. After leaving there, he went on to pastor Sandridge Pentecostal Church in Sandridge, OK.
Donald began his teaching career in Leesville, LA as a high school Special Education teacher and wood shop instructor. He later taught in Grant parish and finished his career serving in Jasper TX.
Left to cherish his wonderful memory are his two sons, Jonathan and wife, Martina of Ozark, MO, Phillip and wife, Nedia of Lake Charles, LA; their mother Rachel Crum of Moss Bluff, LA, two grandsons, Caleb and wife, Ashley of Columbia, MS, Tyler Crum of Ozark, MO.; two granddaughters, Ajalynn and Hanna Crum of Lake Charles, LA.; his sister, Kathleen Burns and husband, Dennis of Long Beach, CA., along with their children Denelle, Tim, Bethany and their spouses.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Services celebrating his life will be held in Livingway Church, 1617 E. McNeese St., Monday, September 11, 2017 at 10 a.m. with Rev. Jon Crum officiating. Burial will follow in New Richie Cemetery in Moss Bluff LA. under the direction of Johnson & Brown Funeral Home. Visitation will be Sunday, September 10, 2017 in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home, 505 Hwy. 90E, Iowa, LA from 4 p.m. – 8 p.m. and will resume in Livingway Church, from 8 a.m. – 10 a.m.
