Donald Wayne Dukes, Sr., 75, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 27, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Donald was born on April 28, 1950, in Opelousas, Louisiana, to Austin and Dunice Dukes.
A proud graduate of LaGrange High School, Class of 1969, Donald built a successful career as a mechanic, working more than 24 years with Halliburton Services. His career took him around the world-to Oman, Saudi Arabia, Norway, Ecuador, Alaska, and Russia-fueling his love of travel and adventure. He later worked for Ryder Truck Company for several years.
Donald had a passion for genealogy, often referring to his research as "digging up ghosts." He loved uncovering his family's history and sharing stories of the past. Above all, he cherished spending time with his family, especially his beloved grandchildren.
Those left to treasure his memory include his children: Sheena Gauthier (Charlie), Amy Dukes, and Donnie Dukes, Jr.; granddaughters: Morgyn Gauthier, Megyn Gauthier, and Mallory Dukes; sisters: Sandra Dukes, Shelia Malone (Rusty), Lisa Chaumont, and Michelle Puariea (Ed); aunt, Shirley Guillory; and cousin, Randy Boudreaux.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and nephews, Michael Chaumont, Adam Mott, and Jarred Malone.
