Donald H. Hampton

Donald H. Hampton died on May 20, 2024 at the age of 93. He was raised in the Norfolk, Virginia, area. He moved to Southwest Louisiana as a young adult to work in the oilfield services. In 1962 Don and his wife, Ethel, became owners and operators of the Iowa Western Store for several years. He later became Sales Manager for Atterberry International and enjoyed that position for many years. In 1982 he purchased Power Cleaning Equipment, Inc., and owned and operated that business with his son, Wade Crochet, for 34 years before retiring in 2016. In 1992 he became an invested partner in Echo Canyon Guest Ranch with his son, David, in Cuchara Valley, Colorado.

He is survived by two sons, Wade Crochet (Sue) of Lake Charles and David Hampton (Kathleen) of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and daughter, Dani Jo Cagle (Mike) of Lake Charles; and his loving companion of 12 years, Dorothy (Dottie) Terry; grandchildren, Brock Schell (Georgie) of Longview, Texas, Mandy Fender of Lake Charles, Jamie Guidry, Chad Guidry, Matt Hampton, Anne Hampton Dennis, 17 great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, and two nephews, Robert and Donald Stollsteimer.
He was predeceased by his wife of 58 years, Ethel Caswell Hampton, grandsons Matt Crochet and Daniel Crochet, and great grandson Logan T. Chiasson.

He raised his family for many years in the Iowa, Louisiana, area until the death of his wife and later found love and companionship in the extended family of Dorothy Terry in Lake Charles, Louisiana, where he was accepted and received much love from both families.

He was a man who accepted the gift of grace and in the latter part of his life put his trust in Jesus Christ alone for his salvation. He enjoyed golf, horses, raising and hunting with bird dogs, dancing, traveling and camping. He loved and was involved in the sports activities of his children and grandchildren, and especially his great grandson, Logan Chiasson. He was known for living life with passion, a wonderful sense of humor, the ability to connect and make friends, and a generous and giving heart, and helped raise 3 generations of children with much love and kindness.

Cremation has been entrusted to Johnson and Brown Funeral Home in Iowa, La. Family and friends are invited to attend visitation at Johnson and Brown Funeral Home on May 23, 2024, beginning at 11 A. M. followed by a memorial service at 1 P.M.
