Donald "Duck" Eugene Vital was born on September 23, 1953, to Lee Sr. and Carrie Vital. He departed this life on December 30, 2025. Donald was baptized at ZTBC under Rev. Herman Weston, where he faithfully served as an usher and doorkeeper for the Lord.
Donald found joy in the open road. He began his career as a cross-country driver for Acme and later finished his working years at Supreme Rice Mill under Zaunbrecher Farms. He also worked as a farmhand for Sweetlake Land & Oil, where he retired.
He was a deeply devoted father and an even prouder grandfather. His grandchildren were his greatest joy and his number one priority. Nothing brought him more happiness than time spent with them.
Known for his kind heart and gentle spirit, Donald was truly one of the nicest people you could ever meet. He never turned away someone in need and lived his life with compassion, humility, and grace. Helping others wasn't something he did-it was who he was. Above all, he was a living example of God's favor. Through his actions, faith, and unwavering kindness, he showed what it means to live a life rooted in love. His legacy will live on through the lives he touched and the family he loved so deeply.
Cherishing his memories are his daughter, Briana Vital (Riley House); his beloved grandchildren, Brylee and Blake Simien, Jr. and Hermés House; four brothers, Alvin Vital, Mervin "Joe" Vital of Iowa, Willie Vital of Lake Charles, and Gerald Wayne of Baytown, TX; and six sisters, Carrie Guillory of Lake Charles, Celeste Faye Gradney of Fenton, Catherine "Teenie" Bellard, Carolyn Ramirez, Eva Vital, and Mary Theresa Simon of Iowa, LA. He also leaves behind many family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee Sr. and Carrie Vital; his sisters, Rose Marie Ozane and Eunice Bellard; and his brothers, Lee Jr., Roger Glen, and John Vital.
A celebration of Donald's life will be held on January 9, 2026, viewing at 10am. Funeral service at 11a.m. at Johnson Funeral Home of Iowa. Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in knowing that he is now at peace.
Forever loved.
