Donna Lee McWilliams Maier, 53, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family. She was called home to the Lord on Sunday, July 24, 2016 after a long battle with Melanoma. Donna was born in Sheffield, AL to Charles McWilliams and Dorothy Blankinship McWilliams. She graduated high school from Mars Hill Bible School. She received a bachelor in management/marketing from the University of North Alabama and completed her master’s degree in accounting at McNeese State University. She was the senior financial analyst at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital and worked there for 30 years. She was also an active member of Trinity Baptist Church.
Donna’s first love was her family. She had a special bond with her nieces and nephews. She enjoyed traveling and Alabama football (Roll Tide). Donna loved the Lord, Jesus Christ, and maintained a loving relationship with God until her death. Her strength and faith in the Lord was an inspiration to many of her family and friends.
Those left to cherish her memory is her loving husband of 13 years, Richard Lee Maier. Her children, Patricia Granier and husband Steven; Steven Maier and wife Susie; Cody Dougay and wife Lacey; and Karen Doucet and husband Shawn. Siblings, Charles Don McWilliams and wife Linda; David Andrew McWilliams and wife Theresa; Deborah Thrasher; Robert Crittenden and wife Barbara; Ricky Crittenden and wife Kym; and Mary Martha Irons and husband Keith. Nephews, Andy McWilliams and fiancé Annamarie; and Lukas McWilliams. Nieces, Kaitlyn McWilliams; and Ashley Thrasher. She dearly loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; father Charles McWilliams; mother Dorothy Blankinship McWilliams; and stepmother Robbie Ann McWilliams.
Visitation will be at Johnson Funeral Home in Lake Charles on Monday, July 25, 2016 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The funeral service will be Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at 10:00 am. The graveside service will be Thursday, July 28, 2016 at 10:00 am in Sheffield, AL at the Oakwood Cemetery.
