Dora Cotes Moore, 90, of Lake Charles, LA, died at 9:32 AM on Monday, June 27, 2016 in her residence.

 

Mrs. Moore was born March 28, 1926 in Colón, Panamá, where she graduated from St. Mary’s Academy and later attended Ursuline College in New Orleans. She met and married the love of her life, Hubert Moore and traveled the world with him following his Army career. She worked as a bi-lingual secretary and translator for both the U.S. Army and various others throughout the years, including working for Jimmy Carter from the start of his presidential office. Mrs. Moore was raised in the Catholic faith and loved to travel with her husband and grandchildren. She was fun loving and full of life and enjoyed dancing, music, crafts, and reading. Mrs. Moore has resided in Lake Charles for the past seven years.

 

Mrs. Moore is survived by her daughter, Leslie Moore Gurley and husband Tom, Jr. of Lake Charles; daughter-in-law, Alice Moore of Arlington, VA; and grandchildren, Jessica Gurley of Norfolk, VA and Tom Gurley, III of Richmond, VA.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Wiley Moore; and son, Geoffrey H. Moore.

 

Her cremation was entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home. A mass in her memory will be held at 4:00 PM on Thursday, June 30, 2016 at Villa Maria.

 

The family would like to express a special word of thanks to the Villa Maria staff and all of her sitters, especially, Denise Hoffpauir, Erica Thompson, and Linda Armentero for the excellent care given.
