Dora Mae Nunez Pinch

August 12, 1924 — March 25, 2017

Dora Mae Pinch, 92, of Grand Chenier passed away Saturday, March 25, 2017 in her residence.

 

Dora Mae, better known to her family as Mamaw, was born August 12, 1924 in Grand Chenier where she lived most of her life and was a member of St. Eugene Catholic Church and served as a member of the choir, altar society and church council. She spent the last 12 years in Lake Charles after losing her home in Hurricane Rita. Dora Mae worked at the Court House in Cameron, was a homemaker & later became a beautician where she got to do her favorite thing in life, visit with her many friends. She enjoyed spending time with her family and usually had one of her many grandchildren at her feet or on her lap. She could always be found in the kitchen cooking, though she would be willing to take a break if someone came to visit for coffee. She will be remembered most for her endless amount of energy, her tenacious spirit, the many meals she prepared, and her wonderful sense of humor.  

 

Dora Mae is survived by one son, William J. Pinch, Jr. (Billy) and wife Bertie of Lacassine, daughter; Mary Kaye Allemond & husband Al of Lake Charles, and daughter in laws; Phyllis Pinch of Jennings and Norma Jo Pinch of Lake Charles; twelve grandchildren, Christie McCullough and husband David of Roswell, GA, David Pinch of Grand Chenier, Jami Pinch of Jennings, Aaron Pinch and wife Ashley of Jennings, Kali Currey and husband Lance of Marietta, GA, Adam Allemond and wife Celeste of Sumter, SC, Casi Pinch and partner Brian Smith of Grand Chenier, Fallon Broussard & husband Marcus of Maurice, Nick Pinch and fiancé Yubrani Eid of Lake Charles, Whitnie Pinch of Lacassine, Alex Allemond and wife Mayra of Lake Charles, Andrew Allemond of Lake Charles; one honorary granddaughter Lyndi Stewart of Lake Charles and 14 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and her “grand dogs” including her favorite Nina.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years William “Bill” Pinch, Sr., two sons, Patrick Warren (Pat) Pinch and Robert Charles “Bobby” Pinch, her parents Paul & Odelia Savoie Nunez , one brother Kenneth Nunez, one sister Marie Nunez Miller and one niece Glenda Nunez McPherson, and one great niece Jessica Nunez.

 

Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday March 27, 2017, with a Rosary to be recited at 6:00 PM, and will continue on Tuesday March 28 from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM at Johnson Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM on Tuesday March 28, 2017 at St. Eugene Catholic Church with Father Vincent Vadakkedath serving as celebrant. Burial will be at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Cemetery in Grand Chenier.
