Dorina Frances Fontenot

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Dorina Frances Fontenot, who left us on March 1, 2026, at the age of 77. Born on July 7, 1948, Dorina spent her life in Lake Charles, LA, and touched the hearts of everyone she met.

Dorina graduated from LaGrange High School and married her loving husband, Wendell Fontenot, in 1981. Together, they built a beautiful family filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Dorina was a devoted mother to her daughters Regina Fontenot (James) and Angie Thibodeaux (Layton), and her son Jonathan Fontenot (Holly). She was also a proud grandmother to Emma Fontenot (Shane), Cameron Fontenot (Amber), Andrew Fontenot, Ashley Breitkreutz (Andrew), Taylor Gautreaux (Logan), Kara Fontenot, and Leah Fontenot, and a joyful great-grandmother to Braxton, Brinley, Bobby, Jolie, Eisley, and Libby.

A woman of faith, Dorina loved sharing her love for Christ with everyone around her. She was an active member of Christian World, where she volunteered her time with food pantries and children's ministry, embodying a spirit of service and compassion.Dorina's love for gardening and family gatherings brought joy to her life, and she had a special way of making everyone feel welcomed and loved. 

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Dorina's life during the funeral service at Johnson Funeral Home of Iowa on Wednesday, March 4, 2026 at 1:00 PM. Gathering of friends and family will begin on Wednesday, March 4, 2026 at 10:00 AM until 4:00 PM. Cremation will follow under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home of Iowa.

Dorina will be deeply missed but her legacy of love and kindness will live on in all of us.

Dorina was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Gladys Manuel Fuselier; her daughter, Jerica Fontenot; her sister, Dean Baker.
