Doris Marie Chenet Heimbach, 97, of Moss Bluff passed away at Sunday, July 26, 2026 in her residence.

Born on August 10, 1928, in New Orleans, Louisiana, she was raised in Thibodaux before moving to Lake Charles. She graduated from Lake Charles High School and attended McNeese Junior College for two years and then earned a Bachelor of Science in Commerce from Louisiana State University in 1948.

She began her career shortly after graduation as a secretary with Cities Service Oil Company, where she worked until 1953. She later returned to McNeese State University and earned a degree in Business Education and Social Studies in 1968. She began teaching typing and business education at Lake Charles High School in 1969 before transferring to Iowa High School and teaching until her retirement.

She was a member of St. Theodore Catholic Church, the Daughters of the American Revolution and a founding member of the McNeese Junior College chapter of Phi Mu Sorority.

She loved spending time fishing with her husband and her sons, challenging family and friends to games of Scrabble, and working crossword puzzles. She will be remembered for her dedication to education, her love of learning, and the kindness and warmth she shared with everyone who knew her.

Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Karl Heimbach and wife Paula, Eric Heimbach and wife Elizabeth; sister, Patricia Mock; grandchildren, Dr. Erin Heimbach and husband Dr. Jared Nathanson, Sarah Kitt and husband Eron, and Ellen Smith and husband Nick; and great grandchildren, Peter and Calvin Smith and Sophie Nathanson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Peter F. Heimbach, Jr.; her parents, Theophile and Doris Chenet; and a brother, Ted Chenet.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, August 4, 2026 in the Johnson Funeral Home chapel in Lake Charles. Father Aubrey Guilbeau will officiate. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation will begin on Monday from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM with a rosary being recited at 6:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Tuesday from 9:00 AM until the start of the service.
