Doris Pullen Rogers, born in Corrigan, Texas on January 20, 1926, daughter of the late Joseph Ransom Pullen, Sr. and Vera (French) King, passed away in a local hospital on Saturday, January 23, 2021, at the age of 95.
Doris worked in sales and as a caregiver and enjoyed quilting and sewing. Doris, a loving daughter, mother, grand-mother, and friend, loved spending time with her family. She was involved in participating in all her grandchildren’s activities. She loved playing cards and had an incredibly competitive nature.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Horace J. Rogers of Westwego, LA; granddaughter, Kelly; siblings, William G. “Dub” Pullen, II, Vinnie Leah Pullen, Joseph R. Pullen, Jr., and Billy French Pullen; son, George “Rocky” David Thomas.
Doris is survived by her children, James Joseph “Jim” Thomas (Lois) of New Orleans; John Wayne Thomas of Lake Charles; Virginia Leah Thomas LeJeune (Michael) of Lacassine; Richard Orin Thomas of Lake Charles; 11 grandchildren, which includes her longtime caregiver and granddaughter, Yvette LeJeune; 31 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great grandchildren, with 1 on the way and many nieces and nephews.
As per her request, cremation has been entrusted to Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa. There will be no formal services.
