It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dorothy Ann Begnaud, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, who departed this life on June 19, 2026, at the age of 85. Born on December 15, 1940, in Welsh, Louisiana, Dorothy was a cherished member of her community and a devoted family matriarch.
Dorothy's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with love, laughter, and countless memories. She graduated from Lacassine High School and went on to have a fulfilling career as a Postal Clerk for the U.S. Postal Service, where she dedicated 25 years of her life to serving others. Prior to that, Dorothy worked for Lacassine Rice Drier and also a moving company, contributing her hard work and compassionate spirit to everything she did.In
1961, Dorothy married the love of her life, Robert Begnaud, and together they built a family that brought her immeasurable joy. She is survived by her loving husband, Robert, their son Kevin (Charlotte), daughter Rhonda, and grandchildren James (Linzy), Collin, Leann, Randy (Ashley), Alicia, Tiffany, along with great-grandchildren, Linsey, Baylor, Coralee, Paisley, Karter, Rylan, Drue, Taryn, Kinsley, Ellie, Braylan, Declan, Casen, Layne, and Reese who will carry her legacy forward. She is also survived by her sister, Martha Benoit. Dorothy also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, John and Leonard Gerard; several beloved siblings, Loneda, Leona, Lee, William, Mable, Grace, John Jr., Pony, Plate, and Claude.
A devoted parishioner of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and she was a member of the Altar Society, Dorothy's faith was a cornerstone of her life. She found joy in simple pleasures, from coloring and baking to camping and dancing. Her love for flower gardening brought beauty to her home and joy to those around her.
A Gathering of Friends and family will begin on Monday, June 22, 2026, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM, with a Rosary recited at 6:30 PM. Visitation will resume in the funeral home on Tuesday in the funeral home from 9:00 AM until 10:30 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at 11:00 AM, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Lacassine Cemetery.
In honoring Dorothy's memory, let us celebrate a life well-lived, remembering her warmth, kindness, and the love she freely shared with everyone she met. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered in our hearts.
