Douglas Earl Hansen, 67, passed away in Lake Charles, Louisiana on Saturday, August 1, 2026. He was born on December 16, 1958 in Lake Charles to Lawrence and Margie Land Hansen.

Doug enjoyed the simple things in life. In his younger years, he loved hunting and fishing and spending time outdoors. He also enjoyed tinkering with computers, and was always interested in figuring out how things worked. He dedicated 28 years of service to the Calcasieu Parish School Board, where he made a lasting impact through his work and commitment. Above all, he cherished time with his family, especially his grandchildren, who brought him immense joy. He will be remembered for his love of family, his quiet strength, and the kindness he showed to those around him.

Those left to cherish his memory are, his spouse, Valerie; his sons, Scott Hansen, and Grant Hansen (Kaylan); his grandchildren, Bethany Hansen, Harlee Hansen, Shaye Hansen, and Aubrielle Hansen; Valerie’s children, David Myatt, Isaac Myatt, and Becki Pettefer (James); Valerie’s grandchildren, Abigail Myatt, Hailie Pettefer (fiancé, Dakota Hicks); Caleb Pettefer; and Valerie’s great-grandson, Oliver Hicks. He was preceded in death by his parents.

His funeral will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 8, 2026 in the chapel of Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles, 4321 Lake Street. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Friday, August 7, 2026 from 5:00 until 8:00 PM, and will resume on Saturday from 9:00 AM until the start of the service.
