Douglas J. "Pluto" Holland

Hayes–Douglas J. “Pluto” Holland, 81, passed away in a local care facility on March 8, 2016 surrounded by his loving family.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, 11, 2016 in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home with Father Roland Vaughn officiating. Burial will follow in Hayes Cemetery. Visitation is Thursday from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. with a rosary at 6:30 p.m. in the funeral home and will resume on Friday from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 1 p.m.
Pluto was born in Hayes on November 12, 1934 to the late Vernon and Julia (Duhon) Holland. He attended St. John Vianney and worked as a driller in the oilfield. Pluto enjoyed gardening, tending to his fruit trees, all types of fishing (frogging, crawfishing) and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Bonita of Hayes; children, Douglas Holland II, Tara Holland, Chante` Clark , Ricky Holland (Mitzi), Paul Holland (Charlotte), and Cindy DeMaskey; 13 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Pluto is preceded in death by his parents; son, Daniel “Danny” Holland and his siblings, Royce, Eldridge, Curtis “Bud”, Shirley and Clara Belle.
The family would like to thank Landmark Nursing Home (Dementia Care Unit) and Heart of Hospice, especially Theresa Fontenot for taking great care of Pluto.
