Doug was born on March 9, 1961 in New London, CT to Walter and Mary Whitman Stinson. He was raised in Lake Charles and graduated from Lagrange High School.

Doug found a love of the outdoors at a very young age. He was an avid hunter & fisherman, and his love of the outdoors often found him at Toledo Bend, Sabine Refuge, or Lacassine hunting or fishing year-round.
