Dudley “Pumpkin" Oliver Swire, born in Creole on August 13, 1959, son of Dudley Joseph and Hilda Mae (Vincent) Swire, passed away Monday, August 21, 2023, at the age of 64.
Pumpkin, a commercial fisherman, was of the Catholic faith. He enjoyed fishing, working cows, and tending to his garden.
Pumpkin is survived by his siblings, Marlene Swire, Nancy Hunter (Jeff), Anthony Swire (Judy), Rudolph Swire (Charlene), Keith Swire (Andrea), and Asa Swire, and Remington and Amelia Hendrix, who were like his grandchildren.
Funeral services are Thursday, August 24, 2023 at 10 a.m. in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa. Rev. Roland Vaughn, Celebrant. Burial will follow in Lacassine Cemetery. Visitation begins Wednesday in the funeral home from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m., with a rosary recited at 6 p.m. Visitation will resume Thursday from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m.
