Duford Joseph Harrington, 78, of Lake Charles passed away on Friday, December 21, 2018 in his residence.
Mr. Harrington was born on June 26, 1940, was a native of Kaplan, and was raised in Lake Charles. He was a graduate of Iowa High School, and furthered his education attending the American Institute of Banking, and in 1973 graduating from the School of Banking of the South at LSU. Mr. Harrington began his career in 1958 at Gulf National Bank before transferring to the Calcasieu Marine Bank in 1961 and earning the title of Vice President. He later owned and operated Harrington Enterprises for many years.
He was an avid LSU and Saints fan. His passion in life was hunting and fishing which he enjoyed with his son and son in law.
Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Mitzi Stutes (Sheldon) of Lake Charles, Derek Harrington (Deedra) of Carencro, and Jackie LeJeune (Bryan) of Lake Arthur; siblings, Joyce Harrington, Donald Harrington (Candy), and Ronald Harrington (Wanda) all of Lake Charles; grandchildren, Brandy Guillory (Pat) of Sugarland, TX, Carla Staid (Daniel) of Zachary, Kara Harrington of Carencro, Taylor Harrington (Lexi) of Milton, Cody LeJeune of Lake Arthur, and Dylan LeJeune of Lake Charles; and great grandchildren, Eliza and Graham Guillory, Lillian Staid, and Ethan LeJeune. He also leaves behind his lifelong companion, Becky Harrington of Detroit, MI.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edith Abshire Lyons and Arnold Harrington and a sister, Birdie Mae Mallet.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, December 27, 2018 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Monsignor Daniel Torres will officiate. Burial will follow in Prien Memorial Park. Visitation will begin on Thursday at 11:00 AM until the rosary being recited at 1:30 PM.
