Dusty Lewis

March 13, 1962 — May 16, 2020

Earnest David “Dusty” Lewis, II, 58, of Moss Bluff passed away Saturday, May 16, 2020 in a local hospital.

Dusty was a native of Lake Charles and a graduate of LaGrange Senior High School.  As a young boy and into his high school years, he enjoyed taking his friends to spend weekends and vacations fishing, hunting and hanging out in Woodworth, LA with his aunt and uncle.  He also enjoyed recreational sports and sailing.  Some of his greatest stories were from his days of being a D.J. at the infamous, CROCS of the Lake Charles Hilton.  Dusty worked as a Holston ambulance driver and EMT, many years as an operator for Firestone Polymers and the past fifteen years as a truck driver in the Construction Industry.  His greatest love was his daughter, Abby.  Instilling in her and sharing with her the many things he enjoyed most in life: weekends hunting, trips to the beach and sitting on the porch with their sidekick, “Shadow” to watch storms go by.  Abby was his world and he was sure to let everyone know it.  He will be most remembered for his unconditional love, support, encouragement.

He leaves to honor his memory, one daughter, Abby Lewis Le and (Kevin) of Lake Charles; three sisters, Barbara Darwish of Sulphur, Jackie Welsh (Keith) of Pullman WA and Sheree Lewis of Pullman, WA; nieces and nephews, Derek Kinard, Justin Kinard, Heather Griffin, Laura Cates and Chad Reeves; former wife and dear friend, Robin Touchet of Lake Charles; his friends, Kyle Spell, José Bacca, Mike Murdoch, Gary Stratton, Lindsey Powers and Jude Danna and his beloved dog, Lily.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Earnest David Lewis and Ruby Lee Peterson; one sister, Terry Wells and a nephew, Garrett Reeves.

Funeral services will be at 6:00 PM Wednesday, May 20, 2020 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel.  Reverend Marcus Wade will officiate.  Visitation Wednesday will be from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM in the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association of Southwest Louisiana, 630 West Prien Lake Road, Suite 107 Lake Charles, LA 70601 or Louisiana Alzheimer’s Association at alzbr.org/donate/
