E. Elaine Schultz

September 13, 1946 — January 28, 2025

E. Elaine Schultz, born in Lake Charles, Louisiana on September 13, 1946, daughter of the late Jim Mervyn and Betty June (Greathouse) Young, passed away Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at the age of seventy-eight.

Elaine, a graduate of Grand Lake High School, attended Sowela Technical College. She was an active member of St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church, where she was a member of the catholic daughters and a Eucharistic Minister. Elaine was co-owner of Mud Bug Treasures in the 70’s and worked as a secretary for La Tex Rubber. She later managed the optometry department at Sam’s Club.

Known for her green thumb, she enjoyed tending to her daylilies & potted plants. Her greenhouse was always full. In her younger years she loved to dance. She enjoyed music, especially Elvis Presley.

She is preceded in death by her parents, and grandson, Jarrett Scott Nunez.

Survivors are her loving and devoted husband, Ron Schultz; children, Felisha Nunez (Scott), and Brett Schultz (Kelly Kindred); former daughter-in-law, Suzanne Schultz; siblings, Sylvia Poimboeuf (Charles), Mike Young, and Ida Frantz (Lowell). Her greatest honor was to be Nana to her grandchildren, Emily Gilmore (Justin), Samantha Schultz, Evan Schultz (Casey), Ellie Nunez and Kane Nunez, and three great grandchildren, Kai, Cora & Charlie.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held in St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church on Monday, February 3, 2025 at 10 a.m. Monsignor James Gaddy, Celebrant. Burial will follow in Sweet Lake Grand Lake Cemetery under the direction of Johnson & Brown Funeral Home. Visitation begins Sunday in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m., with a rosary recited at 6 p.m. Visitation will resume in the church on Monday at 8 a.m. Pallbearers assisting in her service are Evan Schultz, Kane Nunez, Justin Gilmore, Marcus Young, Mark Broussard and Chad Tregle.
