Earl Keith Tate, 75, of Amarillo, TX passed away Wednesday, September 2, 2026 in a healthcare facility in Amarillo.
Mr. Tate was born and raised in Lake Charles, LA. He was a 1969 graduate of LaGrange Senior High School. Following high school, he moved to Cameron, Louisiana, and continued his education while commuting to McNeese State University. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Education from McNeese in 1973 and in 1977 attained additional accreditations through his studies at Stephen F. Austin State University.
In 2000, Mr. Tate made the move to Amarillo, Texas. There, he began what would become a nearly 30-year career in the food service industry. He always enjoyed working and took pride in staying active and involved. He was a loyal Facebooker, rarely missing an opportunity to connect with family and friends and keep up with the world around him.
Some of his greatest memories were made during his younger years, when he spent time with his cousins in Cameron. Their adventures, good times, and countless trips to the movies became treasured memories that remained close to his heart throughout his life. He cherished his relationships with his cousins and enjoyed reflecting on the memories they created together.
Above all, his greatest joy was his mother and the special friendship they shared. He devoted his life and his love to being there for her, always. Her passing left an immeasurable emptiness in his heart as he missed her immensely.
Mr. Tate was a devout Catholic who attended daily Mass as long as he was physically able. He was an active member of the Kolbe Prison Retreat Ministry and ACTS Retreats and a former member of St. Margaret Catholic Church.
He will be remembered for his strong faith, his devotion to his mother, his love for family, and the many memories he made with those he held dear.
Left to honor his memory are his dear cousins and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his father, Earl Dean Tate; his mother, Margarite Virginia Murphy Tate, and his beloved Godmother, Allie “Honey” Henry.
