Edda Mobley

Edda Marie Mobley, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on May 13, 2025, at the age of 78. She was born on July 28, 1946, in Dry Creek, Louisiana, to Wesley Taylor and Eva Willis Taylor. Edda spent her early years in Westlake, where she graduated from Westlake High School in 1964.

Edda began her career as a baker at Mr. T's Bakery in Moss Bluff, where her passion for baking flourished. She eventually took ownership of the bakery, where her skill in cake decorating became well-known in the community. Following her time at Mr. T's, Edda chose to dedicate herself to raising her three sons.

A devoted member of Faith Temple in Sulphur, Louisiana, Edda's faith and kindness were a source of inspiration to those around her. In her spare time, Edda found joy in fishing at their camp on the Sabine River, where she created countless memories with family and friends.

Edda is survived by her loving mother, Eva Taylor; her sons, Steven Golightly and his wife Leah, Chris Golightly and his wife Stacy, and Brian Golightly; her brothers, Michael Taylor and his wife Kim, Milton Taylor, and Richard Taylor and his wife Lee; her sisters, Jo Ann Cormier and Maggie Taylor; as well as her cherished grandchildren Laura and Colten Rainwater, Nick and Magen Golightly, Hayleigh and Kyle Snell, Jaycob and Mattie Golightly, Layla Mobley; and great-grandchildren Stella and Myles Rainwater, Ava Grace Golightly, Brody, Brecken, and Blaire Snell, and JJ (Jaycob Jr.) Golightly.

She is preceded in death by her father Wesley Taylor, and brother-in-law Herman Cormier.

A funeral service will take place at Johnson Funeral Home in Moss Bluff on May 15, 2025 at 12:00 PM. A graveside service will be held at Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery the same day at 3:00 PM. A Visitation will also take place at Johnson Funeral Home in Moss Bluff from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM.

Edda will be deeply missed by all who knew her, and her legacy of love will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
