Edgar Raleigh Poole, Jr.

Edgar Raleigh Poole, Jr., 80, of Lake Charles, LA passed away at 11:10 PM on Wednesday, June 4, 2025 in a Columbia care facility.

Mr. Poole was born on April 11, 1945 in Grand Lake where he was a graduate of Grand Lake High School and was a member of Grand Lake Faith Temple. After moving to Houma, LA, he met the love of his life, and together they later settled in Lake Charles to raise their family.

A hardworking man, Mr. Poole dedicated many years to his craft as a roofer with Poole Roofing, a trade he took great pride in. Seven years ago, he relocated to Columbia, Louisiana, to be closer to his daughter and son-in-law. During this time, he became a cherished member of Pleasant Grove Church of God in Grayson, LA.

Mr. Poole was known for his love of motorcycles and the joy he found in riding with his family.

Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Belinda Rowland (Jimmy) and Kevin Poole; siblings, Sharon Comeaux (Toby) and Larry Poole (Joan); six grandchildren, Keisha Smith (Dalton), Ashlee Rivett, Justin Poole (Christen), Alissa McClure (Brandon), Triston Poole (Olivia), and Garrett Poole (Kara); and eight great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Virgie Poole; parents, Edith Beatrice and Edgar Poole, Sr.; and siblings, Garland Poole, Charolette Cooley, and Curtis Poole.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, June 14, 2025 in the Johnson Funeral Home chapel. The son-in-law, Pastor Jimmy Rowland, will officiate. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be on Friday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and will continue on Saturday from 1:00 PM until the start of the service.
