With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Edmond Carson Watkins, II, a beloved son, brother, father, and friend, who departed this world on June 12, 2026, in Houston. Born on October 21, 1961, in Kinder, LA, Carson was a free spirit who embraced life with enthusiasm, humor, and warmth. He graduated from Fenton High School in 1979 and was the class B state javelin champion and parish record holder. He was the founder and operator of Crawcaine where his unique flair for seasoning brought joy and flavor to countless meals.
When Carson was called on to carry the cross of battling cancer, he became closer to the Lord and found comfort in the bible. Surprisingly, even quoting scripture.
Carson was known for his generous heart and infectious laughter. He had a remarkable ability to turn ordinary moments into unforgettable stories, often mesmerizing his listeners with tales of adventure, whether it was about fishing, hunting, or everyday life, he believed that magic was always just a story away. He was a true master storyteller whose charm knew no bounds; he never met a stranger and always made room in his heart for everyone he encountered.
An adventurous soul, Carson relished every opportunity to travel, explore, and savor life to its fullest. His daring spirit was showcased in his fearless antics, including the infamous moment when he laid on the ground as a combine passed over him-a testament to his love for taking risks and sharing laughter with those around him.
Carson will be lovingly remembered by his mother, Myrtle Billiot; his siblings, Connie Watkins McTopy and Marshall Watkins (Pam); his children, Vanessa Watkins (Daniel Hamilton, II), Tyler Watkins, Lacey Morehead (Deon); his step-daughter, Randishaye Conner (Skyler); his grandchildren, Daniel Hamilton, III, Audrey Morehead, Natalie Morehead, Lane Conner, and Levi Conner, as well as a host of family and friends whose lives were enriched by his presence.
Funeral services to celebrate Carson's vibrant life will be held at Johnson Funeral Home of Iowa on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at 10:00 AM, where we will share stories, laughter, and love for the incredible man he was. A gathering of family and friends will take place on Friday, June 19, 2026, from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM, with a Rosary recited at 6:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Saturday at 9:00 AM until the time of service. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery, Welsh under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home of Iowa.
As we celebrate Carson's extraordinary life, we invite all who knew him to come together to remember the joy he brought to our lives and to honor the legacy of kindness, humor, and adventure that he left behind. Rest in peace, dear Carson; you will forever remain in our hearts.
Carson was preceded in death by his father, Edmond Watkins, I; his grandparents, Wilbur and Audrey Watkins, William and Mavis Griffiths; his step-father, Edgar Billiot.
