It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Edna Faul, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who left this world on January 16, 2026, at the age of 89. Edna was born on December 4, 1936, and cherished each day of her long and fulfilling life. She was a pillar of love and strength in her family, married for an incredible 74 years to her devoted husband, Mervin Faul. Together, they shared a life rich in love, laughter, and countless joyful moments.
Edna was known for her culinary talents, often delighting family and friends with her delicious cooking. Her passion for word searches and computer games brought her joy and entertainment, while she treasured the memories made traveling to festivals with Mervin and his Cajun band. A lover of music and song, Edna would often uplift those around her with her beautiful voice, creating an atmosphere of warmth and camaraderie.
She leaves behind her loving children: Gale LeBlanc (James), Elaine Comeaux, Terry Faul (Kim), and Janice Ritter (Butch). Edna is also survived by her siblings, Doris Deshotel, Ira Fontenot, and Anita Gatte, as well as grandchildren Candace de Klerk, Scott Comeaux, Katie Comeaux, April Reeves, Jared Faul, Eric Foreman, Amy Stewart, Brooke Faul, Brandon Faul, Gage Ritter, Tanner Ritter, Jake Ritter, and sixteen great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Becky Faul, and son -in-law, Ricky Foreman. Each of them carries a cherished memory of Edna, reflecting her kind spirit and love.
Funeral services will begin with a public viewing on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Johnson Funeral Home of Iowa. A Rosary will be held that evening at 6:30 PM. Visitation will resume on Wednesday in the funeral home from 9:00 am to 9:45 a.m. The community is invited to gather on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, for a Mass at St. Raphael Catholic Church at 10:00 AM, where family and friends can come together to celebrate Edna's remarkable life and the indelible mark she left on all who knew her. She will be laid to rest in a peaceful burial service at Pine Hill Cemetery.
In this time of sorrow, we remember Edna's loving spirit and the joy she brought into our lives. May her legacy of love and compassion continue to inspire us all.
Edna was preceded in death by her parents, Wilson and Addie LeJeune Fontenot; her son Ferran Faul, her daughter, Arlene Faul Foreman, and her brother, Wilson R. Fontenot.
