Ed Ewing

Edward Layton Ewing Sr. was a man who could make an impression the moment he walked into a room. He had a tough exterior, a loud voice, and a hard-headed nature, but underneath it all was a heart as big as anyone could ask for. He was always willing to help others and provide for those he loved. He was a hardworking man who spent his life taking care of his family.

Ed retired from four different careers throughout his life, including Halliburton, his own local body shop in Moss Bluff, Ewing Paint and Body, CRST, and East Tex. After one of his retirements, he began a career at CRST, where his wife and best friend, Betty, joined him. Betty received her CDL, and together they traveled across the country. They were inducted into the CRST Hall of Fame as million-mile drivers with no accidents.

Ed absolutely adored Betty. They were best friends and true partners in life, sharing 55 years of marriage and many miles together. They especially loved traveling to the Northeast. Betty loved Las Vegas, but two of their special places were New Orleans and Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Wherever they went, they went together.

Ed is survived by his wife of 55 years, Betty Ewing; his children, Corky Ewing (Tessa) and Dennis Ewing (Sara Miller); grandchildren, Katlyn Wall, Logan Ewing, Destiny Bergeron (Hunter), Sommer Teague (Terry), Cambree Ewing, and Embree Ewing; great-grandchildren, PJ Teague, and Riley and Roczen Bergeron; and siblings, Don Ewing and Missy Heard.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A funeral for Ed will be Tuesday, September 29, 2026 at 10:00 AM, at Johnson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff. Burial will follow at Old Ritchie Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, September 28, 2026 at Johnson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM and will resume Tuesday morning at 9:00 AM.
