Edward Durward Ward, Jr., lovingly known as "Buddy," passed away on November 6, 2025, at the age of 85.
Buddy was born on October 28, 1940, and grew up in Houston, Texas. He proudly served his country as a member of the Marine Corps Reserve.
He began his career in Houston with Matco while attending college, studying chemistry. Later, Buddy moved his family to Lake Charles and eventually to Sulphur, where he worked as a chemist for Admiral Paint and continued his education at McNeese State University.
Throughout his long and successful career in the paint and protective coatings industry, Buddy served as a Chemist, Plant Manager, and Sales Manager. He retired from Carboline after many dedicated years in the field.
Outside of work, Buddy enjoyed life to the fullest. He had a passion for fishing, boating, barbecuing, cooking, and gardening. He found joy in simple pleasures and loved sharing those moments with family and friends.
For the past two years, Buddy was a resident of Sage Oak of Lake Charles, Memory Care. During that time, he received outstanding care from the compassionate staff, who supported him with kindness and dignity as he faced the challenges of Alzheimer's disease.
Buddy was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Martha Reynolds Ward; his two children, Kim Ward Valadez and Darin Ward; grandchildren Joshua Hardy and Ashley Ward McNair; and great-grandchildren Malon Hardy and Castor Hardy. He is also survived by his sister, Cookie Ward Hagamier, and nephew, Jason Toups.
