Hayes – Edwin L. Gibbs, Jr., passed away in his residence Wednesday, October 15, 2014.
Edwin “Booda” was born June 29, 1935 in Hayes to the late Edwin L. Gibbs, Sr. and Lois Holland Gibbs. He was a graduate of Bell City High, Methodist by faith and served as a medic in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Edwin was a member of the Cattlemen’s Assoc., FFA and the American Legion. He was cattle and rice farmer and worked for many years at the Alignment Shop in Lake Charles. Music was his passion, especially Lil Alfred and swamp pop.
His survivors include his faithful caregivers, John & Pat Boone of Hayes; grandson, R. J. Papillion; Nichole Johnson & family; Mecah Fontenot & family. He is preceded in death by his parents.
