Elaine Phillips Smith, 95 of Lake Charles, died at 11:00 AM on Monday, December 26, 2016 at the Guardian House.

Mrs. Smith was born on December 18, 1921, in Reeves, LA., to Jack and Agnes Phillips. She was a member of St. Luke-Simpson Methodist Church. She retired from the Calcasieu Parish Health Center as Supervisor of Nurses in 1983.

Mrs. Smith was an amazing woman who enjoyed cooking, solving cross word puzzles, spending time with family, shopping trips, and attending church. She was an avid watcher of Wheel of Fortune. She loved and adored her family, especially her grandchildren. She provided her family with so many beautiful memories and has touched many lives with her love and generosity. Mrs. Smith will be remembered for her caring nature, sense of humor, and quick wit.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Karen L. Smith and companion Jan Deneau of Pensacola, Florida; son, Philip G. Smith and wife Loree of Lake Charles; three grandchildren, Philip G. Smith Jr. of San Francisco, CA, Jill Maricle and husband Craig, and Amelia Crawford and husband Joey; three great-grandchildren, Madelyn Kate, Philip James Maricle, and Joseph Paul Crawford III, and former daughter- in- law, Jacqueline A. Smith, all of Lake Charles, LA.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Luther G. Smith, brothers, Leo Phillips, Ed Phillips, Jack Phillips, and Gerry Phillips.

Visitation will be on Thursday, December 29, 2016 from 10:00 until the start of service at Noon at Johnson Funeral Home in Lake Charles. The Rev. Charlie Langford will officiate. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
