Iowa – Elaine Zaunbrecher, born on March 16, 1944, daughter of the late James Dallas and Rose Schneider, passed away Wednesday, January 6, 2021, at the age of 76.
Elaine was a member of St. Raphael Catholic Church. She loved cooking for her family, gardening and tending to her grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Stephen Schneider; grandson, Cory James Sittig.
Elaine is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Rodney Zaunbrecher; children, Jeff Zaunbrecher (Bernice); Angie Fontenot (Clint); Janet Pousson (George); Doug Zaunbrecher (Penny); Glenda Reed (Conwin); Josie Castillo (Jim); Brian Zaunbrecher (Rae); Crystal Self (Aaron) siblings, Barbara “Aunt Bobbie” McDaniel; Michael Glenn Schneider (Carol); 21 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa beginning Friday, January 8, 2021 from 10 a.m. until 1:30 p.m., with a rosary recited at 11 a.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be held in St. Raphael Catholic Church on Friday, January 8, 2021 at 2 p.m. The Very Rev. Anthony Fontenot, Celebrant. Burial will follow in Lacassine Cemetery under the direction of Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa.
Pallbearers assisting in her service are her grandsons, Zeb Zaunbrecher; Jake Fontenot; Seth Janssen; Kyle Castillo; Brock Zaunbrecher and Kade Castillo.
