Elfriede "Oma" Fontenot

Lake Charles – Elfriede “Oma” Fontenot, 87, was born in Munich, Germany on February 3, 1930, the daughter of Otto and Ernestine Zettler, passed away January 15, 2018 in a local hospital.

Oma was a member of Lake Charles Bible Church. She enjoyed golf, sewing, crafts, dancing and especially loved cooking for her family.

Oma is survived by her husband of 69 years, Calvin W. Fontenot of Lake Charles; children, Belinda House (Ed) of Lake Charles, Walter D. Fontenot (Anna) of Longville, Trisha Theriot (Roger) of Iowa; brother, Manfred Zettler of Munich, Germany; grandchildren, Fred Wiley (Tricia), Richelle Wiley, Justin Fontenot (Jessica), Heather Fontenot Pauley (Jake), Shawna Theriot Chapman (Michael) and Roger Paul Theriot, Jr.; 10 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Heinrich Zettler.

Funeral services will be in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home – Iowa on Friday, January 19, 2018 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Phil Carpenter officiating. Burial will follow in Prien Memorial Park. Visitation is Thursday from 5 p.m. – 9 p.m. and will resume Friday from 8 a.m. until the time of service.
