Iowa – Elgine Marie Garner, 75, passed away in her residence June 24, 2015 surrounded by her family.
She was born in Crowley, LA to the late Theo Joseph and Emma Marie (Richard) Abshire on February 19, 1940. She was the owner/operator of the Big R Restaurant in Lake Charles for many years and enjoyed cooking for her family; bingo and spending time with her family.
Elgine is survived by her children, Darrell “Duck” Watkins (Danna), Anita McNaulty, Gerald “Goose” Watkins (Cindy), Judy Abshire, Kevin Watkins, Cheryl Denise “Gabby” Degeyter (Brian), Lisa Landry and Tina Broussard; 17 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; siblings, David Abshire and Willie Mae Wilder. She is preceded in death by her parents and siblings.
Funeral services are Saturday, June 27, 2015 at2 p.m. Burial will follow in Abshire Cemetery ~ Kaplan under the direction of Johnson & Brown Funeral Home. Visitation is Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to assist the family with expenses.
