Ray Landry
Elias Ray Landry, 72, of Iowa passed away Wednesday December 17, 2025 in the comfort of his home away from home.
Mr. Landry was born in Crowley, LA, was a lifelong resident of Iowa and a graduate of Iowa High School. Following graduation, he worked in Nigeria, Africa for McDermott Oil. He later studied at Sowela Technical Institute where he attained an associate degree in Instrumentation and went on to work for Truckline LNG for ten years. He then, along with his wife, started Landry’s Auto Parts, a successful business venture of twelve years, and a year after startup began Landry’s Wrecker Service with twenty-eight years of service until Mr. Landry was no longer physically able to operate. He enjoyed being an active member of the Knights of Colombus #3006 Iowa. His passion was all things automotive, as he enjoyed the challenge and the ability to fix anything. Mr. Landry enjoyed hunting, cooking, making sausage and especially loved cheering for his grandchildren’s school functions and sporting events. A man of faith, he was a member of St. Raphael Catholic Church. He will be most remembered for his love and devotion to his wife and family, his kind and forgiving heart and his ability to give 2nd and 3rd chances as well as his positive spirit and strength in perseverance.
He leaves to honor his memory, his wife of fifty-two years, Deborah “Debbie” Miller Landry of Iowa; one son, Marcus Shane Landry of Iowa; two daughters, Erika Rae Landry Sonnier (Eric) of LeBleu Settlement and Summer Nichole Landry and fiancé, Pinky Telles of Iowa; five grandchildren, Dayton Ray Sonnier (Kindsey) and their children: Kyler, Kannon and Kolston; grandchildren, Jaden Zane Landry and fiancé, Morgan, Ava Marie Sonnier and fiancé Dylan, Cash Landry and Oakley Quinn Landry; one brother, Keith Landry (Vickie) of Lake Charles; two sisters, Yvette Natali (Arnie) and Pam Stelly (Tony), both of Iowa; brother-in-law, Victor Miller (Trenea)of Iowa; sister-in-law, Mickey McGee of Westlake and many nephews, nieces and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elias “Pi” Landry and Mary Leger Landry and father and mother-in-law, Shenry and Merline Miller
Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM Saturday December 20, 2025 at St. Raphael Catholic Church. Father Tony Fontenot will officiate. Interment services will follow at Lacassine Cemetery. Visitation Friday will be from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a Knights of Columbus rosary service at 6:00 PM and will continue Saturday from 9:00 AM until 10:15 AM at Johnson Funeral Home of Iowa.
