Elida Abundez Morin

Elida Abundez Morin, 76, of Mathis, TX, died at 4:31 AM on Tuesday, May 28, 2019 in a local care facility.

Mrs. Morin was born October 22, 1942 in Corpus Christ, TX and lived most of her life in Mathis, TX until moving to Lake Charles, LA two years ago. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Mathis. She enjoyed playing Bingo, fishing and loved to crochet.

Mrs. Morin is survived by her children, Lisa Garza and husband George of Lake Charles, Samantha Flores of Wilmar, MN, Joe Morin, Jr. and wife Marivel of Houston, TX, and Julian C. Morin of Kingsville, TX; brothers, Celso Abundez and Fidencio Abundez of Kingsville, TX; sisters, Tina Olivarez of Arkansas Pass, TX and Sophia Florez of Caralton, GA; grandchildren, Amanda Garza, Xavier Garza, Skye Benavidez, Mia Gutierrez, Timothy Morin, and Jasmine Morin; along with two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe E. Morin; son, Jessie Morin; parents, Julian and Juanita Vela Abundez; and sisters, Julia Rodriguez, Manuela Benavides, Carolinia Abundez, and Margarita Perez.

Her cremation was entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
