Elizabeth “Liz” Ramona Holbrook Williams, 87, of Lake Charles, LA passed away on December 1, 2016 at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Williams was born June 2, 1929 in Bunkie, LA. She has lived most of her life in Lake Charles but grew up in Beaumont, TX and lived in College Station, TX. She graduated from French High School in 1947 and attended Lamar College.
Elizabeth’s past employments have been a bookkeeper for Guth Dairy, Overhead Door, KFC, Janise Air Conditioning, and the Gravity Drainage Board District 4. She also served as President of the Gatorette Booster Club and spent many years involved in numerous activities involving all five of her daughters.
Meme, as she is called by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, loved cooking, spending time on her computer, and was an avid Aggie fan. Planning her class reunions for the past several years have been a favorite project that she looked forward to. She attended First Christian Church for many years and visited Trinity Baptist Church over the past few years. She rarely missed her weekly hair appointments with Michelle Aumiller.
Mrs. Williams is survived by her husband of 67 years, Harold Williams. Also four surviving daughters, Kim Williams and husband Ronnie, Donna Ogea and husband Arthur, Kit Wyatt and husband Robert, and Kam Jakubek and husband Jake all of Lake Charles. Son-in-law Roger Smith and wife Mandy of Moss Bluff. One brother, Randy Holbrook and wife Virval, Beaumont, Tx. Sisters-in-law, Linda Holbrook, Gay Dehart and Chloe Connella and husband Mike. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Surviving grandchildren are Stefan Smith (Lauren), Bryan Williams (Anna), Kyle Williams (Elizabeth), Lindsey Perry (Brooks), Nikkie Landry (Eric), Zachary Wyatt, Hope Buford (Jake), and Lukas Jakubek. Step grandchildren Jody Ogea, Chad Ogea and Jeramie Wyatt. Great grandchildren are David, Audrey and Luke Williams; Neve and Liam Williams; Gavin, Miles, and Brooklyn Perry; Braylon and Presley Landry and Stella Smith with another Smith baby on the way. She also leaves behind her friend on 62 years, Bonnie Flores.
Preceding Mrs. Williams in death are her parents, Garland and Beatrice Holbrook, brother Garland Holbrook and sister Evelyn Threadgill. Her greatest loss was having to say good-bye to her daughter Kay Williams Smith.
The family would love to extend gratitude for the dedication and care the nurses at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital showed their wife and mother during her brief illness. All of us would like to thank Dr. Ben Thompson for the kindness and wisdom you showed Elizabeth all of these years and especially toward the end.
A funeral service will be held at Johnson Funeral Home at 3 PM on Monday December 5, 2016. Burial will follow at Consolata Cemetery. Rev. Bobbie Taylor Yellott will officiate. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday December, 4th from 5 PM to 8 PM. Visitation will continue on Monday from noon to the start of the service.
