Elizabeth "Liz" Leger Soileau

Elizabeth “Liz” Leger Soileau, 84, of Lake Charles passed away at 3:30 PM on Monday, March 16, 2026 in a local retirement community where she was residing.

Liz was born on November 23, 1941 in Lafayette, LA and was a graduate of Opelousas High School. She married Donald Soileau in 1963. They relocated to the Lake Charles area in 1971. Liz worked as a secretary for 26 years for the Calcasieu Parish School Board. After retirement, she volunteered her time at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital. Liz was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Kristy Suarez (Robert) and Cary Soileau, grandchildren Ryan Denison (Alicia) and Ross Denison and step-grandchildren Kathryn Suarez and Raygan Suarez.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years, Donald Soileau; parents, Louis and Emma Leger, and siblings Vivian Soileau, Paul Leger, John Leger, Remy Leger, Jim Leger and Louis Leger.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on Friday, March 20, 2026 in the Johnson Funeral Home chapel in Lake Charles. Father Paul Jussen will officiate. Inurnment will follow in Consolata Cemetery. A gathering of family and friends will begin at 1:00 and continue until the start of the service.

The family would like to thank Father Jussen, her dear friends Bridget, Janet, Claire and Betty. The family would also like to thank the Villages of Imperial Pointe, Erin Allen and hospice nurse Staci.
