Ellen Janee Fontenot

Ellen Janee Fontenot was welcomed home into the loving arms of our heavenly Father on October 11, 2024. She was born on August 31, 1987 in Lake Charles, LA and was baptized at First Baptist Church of Gillis, LA. A resident of Iowa, LA, Ellen Janee was the Director of Central Intake for Oceans Healthcare in Lafayette, LA.
Ellen Janee was dedicated to caring for those around her and serving those who were in most need of help. She had a giving spirit, heart of love, passion for care, and devotion to all those lucky enough to know her. She earned her Associates of Nursing from Sowela Technical Community College and her Bachelors of Nursing from McNeese State University. A registered nurse for nearly 20 years, she supported a team of healthcare professionals facilitating admissions and providing resources to those in need of mental health care in Louisiana and Texas.
Ellen Janee loved being an aunt and a devoted paw parent. She took great pride in being “the favorite aunt” and went to every sporting event possible to cheer on her family. No one loved their family more than her. Her furbaby, Sapphire, was cherished as the apple of her eye and her “angel without wings.”
Ellen Janee was preceded in death by her father, Daniel “Danny” Isom Fontenot of Lake Charles, LA, grandfathers Roy Hanchey, Hayguillory Fontenot, and Ted Callahan, grandmothers Yvonne Babineaux Key and Rita Soileau Callahan, cousin Brandon James DeFries, infant daughter Paityn Mackenzie Alexander and infant triplets Jabari Isom Alexander and Bryker J’Von Alexander (sons), and Taysom Rai Alexander (daughter).
Those left to cherish her life and continue her legacy of love are her mother Mary Ellen Fontenot (Darrell Schexnayder), brothers Johnathan Fontenot (Tamara) and Daniel Fontenot (Laci), sister Susan “Suzi” Kahn (Elliott), nephews Wyatt Fontenot, Eli Kahn, Hayden Fontenot, Otto Kahn, nieces Abigail “Abby” Fontenot and Olivia Fontenot, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and co-workers who will all miss her dearly.
In her honor, visitation will be held Sunday, October 27, 2024 11:00am-3:00pm with a Celebration of Life from 3:00pm-4:00pm at Johnson and Brown Funeral Home in Iowa, LA.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in her name to Boundless Pennies Ministries (@Boundless-Pennies) or to local organizations for pregnancy and infant loss awareness and support.
