David Laird

Ellison David Laird, 76, passed away on Saturday, April 11, 2026, in the company of his family. He was born on February 20, 1950, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, to Ellison and Vivian Thibodaux Laird.

David graduated from LSU with a bachelor’s degree in construction engineering. He worked at Premier Painting for over ten years. He had a deep love of comic books—especially Marvel—as well as science fiction novels, genre films, and classic television. David also enjoyed cheering on the LSU Tigers and the New Orleans Saints. He had a passion for genealogy, taking great pride in his family’s history, and loved fishing at Toledo Bend and cooking for his family. David was a proud member of Saint Andrew Presbyterian Church.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Janice Barron Laird; his daughters, Sara Laird and her partner, Zachary Skipper, and Amy Laird; and his sister, Janet Daughtery and her husband, Denny.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Ronnie Laird.

A memorial service will be held at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church (4020 Hodges Street, Lake Charles LA 70605) on Saturday April 25, 2026 at 10:00am.
