Jane Bowman

Sep 16, 1942 — Jul 25, 2026

Elma Jane Bowman passed away on Saturday, July 25, 2026, leaving behind a family who loved her deeply. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend whose warmth, laughter, and guidance shaped the lives of everyone around her.

Born in Church Point, Louisiana on September 16, 1942, Jane grew up in Rayne before later moving to Lake Charles, where she built a life centered on family, faith, service, and hard work. A devoted member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church and later Christ the King Catholic Church, Jane was known for being loving, generous, funny, feisty, and strong-willed. She had a lifelong love of dancing, winning many competitions over the years, and was proud of her Cajun heritage, singing in the choir as part of the Lake Charles chapter of the Cajun French Music Association. Above all else, her faith and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the most important parts of her life.

She is survived by her son, Leslie Bowman; her brother, John Doucet; her sister, Gloria Chrisman; grandchildren Casey Bowman, Lacie Bowman, and Maggie Bowman; great-grandchildren Jaxtyn Bowman, Halen Willis, Blayke Bowman, India Willis, and Brycen Blum; and many beloved nieces and nephews. Her parents and her brother, Kermit Doucet, welcomed her home. Her memory will live on in the faith she instilled and the grandchildren and great-grandchildren she adored.

A funeral for Jane will be Friday July 31, 2026 at 12:15 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home in Lake Charles, with burial to follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Rayne, Louisiana. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. and a Rosary will be read at 11:30 a.m.
