Elsie Turpin, a longtime resident of Vinton and Sulphur, Louisiana, born June 1, 1932 and died April 19, 2021 after a short illness.
She was a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother. Elsie and Buddy met during the Korean War while serving in the Army. She was married to her husband, W.J. “Buddy” Turpin for 66 years. Together they raised three children, Debbie Turpin Harvey (Ron), Patricia Turpin LeBlanc (Raymond), and Thomas Wayne Turpin (Dana). Elsie spent her life helping others as a Nurse in the United States Army and later as a nurse at Orange Memorial Hospital. She continued her call to serve by participating in many local civic organizations including the American Legion Post 208 Women’s Auxiliary in Vinton, Order of the Eastern Star, the Vi-O-Wa Club and the Licensed Vocational Nurses Alumni Association.
Elsie was preceded in death by her father, mother, brother, and one daughter, Patricia. She loved and cherished her eight grandchildren, Brad, Michael, GW, Courtney, Megan, Amberly, Maggie and Mason; 14 great grandchildren, Tanner, Chance, Chesley, Lizzie, Brynna, Garrett, Haygen, Collin, Harleigh, Lacey, Hudson, Vincent, Ryann, Gemma; and four great-great grandchildren, Kingston, Maddox, Nash and Jensen.
Elsie’s life is being remembered and celebrated by her immediate family in private at her residence with no formal services until the time she is joined by her loving husband.
