Elsie Theresa Breaux Perkins Hollier, 92, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 19, 2026, in her home in Moss Bluff, Louisiana, surrounded by the love and presence of her family.
Elsie was born on July 7, 1933, in Cameron, Louisiana, to Lannye and Amy Rogers Breaux. A lifelong resident of the Lake Charles area, she was deeply rooted in the community she called home. She attended LaGrange High School and devoted her life to caring for her family as a homemaker, a role she fulfilled with quiet strength, generosity, and pride.
A woman of strong faith, Elsie was a longtime member of St. Theodore Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters Court #1999. Her faith guided her daily life and was reflected in the way she loved, served, and supported those around her.
Elsie found joy in the simple and meaningful things in life. She was an avid reader and especially loved quilting, crochet, and collecting dolls. She was well known for her beautiful quilts, each one a reflection of her patience, creativity, and care. In the kitchen, Elsie showed her love through cooking, and she became famous among family and friends for her German chocolate cake, a favorite at many gatherings.
Family stories were treasures to her loved ones, including the fondly remembered tale of when her late husband, Edward, was courting her and won over her mother by bringing home fish he had caught, cleaned, and prepared for cooking. Elsie also spoke fluent French and had a deep love for Cajun French music, which connected her to her heritage and brought her great joy.
Above all else, Elsie was immensely proud of her children and grandchildren. She was their constant supporter, their encourager, and their quiet source of strength. Her love for her family knew no bounds and will remain one of her greatest legacies.
Elsie’s life was marked by faith, devotion to family, and a heart for serving others. She will be remembered with gratitude, love, and gentle smiles, and her memory will continue to live on in the lives she touched. May she rest in peace, comforted by her faith and reunited with those who have gone before her.
Those left to cherish her memory are, her children, James Perkins (Linda), Carl Perkins (Janice), Mark Perkins (Brooke), Eddie Perkins (Jan, deceased), Charlotte Manuel (Dave), Cathy Murdoch (Mike); her sister, Ada Aguillard; along with numerous beloved grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Edward Perkins; her second husband, James Hollier; her brother, Austin Breaux (Gertrude); and her sisters, Lessie Breaux, and Bessie Hebert.
Elsie’s funeral will be held at 11:30 AM on Friday, January 23, 2026 in the Johnson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff Chapel, with Deacon Paul Gregory officiating. Burial will follow in Old Ritchie Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Friday from 9:30 AM until the start of the service, with a rosary being recited at 11:00 AM.
