Iowa – Elwell L. Brashear, 95, passed away Saturday, July 23, 2016, in the Louisiana War Veterans Home in Jennings.
Elwell was born February 4, 1921 in Iowa, LA to the late Louis and Sally LeFranc Brashear. He honorably served in the U. S. Army during WWII. Elwell was a radio & television repairman for Dumatrait’s and enjoyed hunting and playing music.
He is survived by his daughters, Susan Thibodeaux and husband, Bob, of Baton Rouge, LA and Claudette Morgan and husband, Mike, of Macon, Georgia; brothers, Waldon “Blanc” Brashear and wife, Una, of Iowa, and Thomas “Buster” Brashear and wife, Betty, of Iowa; 4 grandchildren, Rebecca Morgan, Brian Morgan, Nancy Thibodeaux Messer and Jason Thibodeaux; 6 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; mother of his daughters, Reva Fontenot Alexander; wife, Norma Joy Brashear, and his siblings.
Visitation begins Tuesday, July 26, 2016 from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 1 p.m. in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home. Father Dismas Mauk will officiate. Burial will follow in LeFranc Cemetery under the direction of Johnson & Brown Funeral Home. Pallbearers assisting in his service are, Brian Morgan, Jason Thibodeaux, Andy Brashear, John Brashear, John Carroll Broussard and Gaylord Sonnier. Serving as honorary pallbearer is Chris Forrest.
