Ernest J. Broussard

Ernest J. Broussard, 79, of Lake Charles, passed away suddenly on December 28, 2018.

Ernest was a native Abbeville and a longtime resident of Lake Charles. He retired from Walmart and was of the Catholic Faith. Ernest had a great love for dancing, entertaining family and friends, but above all for his beloved wife Grace Marie Bertrand Broussard, who preceded him in death after nearly 42 years of marriage. Also, preceding Ernest in death, are his parents, Lothard and Theresa Moody Broussard; brother, Alvin Broussard; sisters, Laura Mae Crain and Norma Jean Chaisson and great grandson, Mitchel Duane Johnson.

He leaves to carry on his memory his son, Keith Broussard and wife Donna, Lake Charles; brothers, Jesse James Broussard, Abbeville; Dudley Joseph Broussard, Lawrenceville, IL; and Remus Joseph Broussard, Kerrville, TX; two grandchildren, Brian Broussard and Christy Broussard Johnson and husband, Mitch; four great grandchildren, whom he adored and spoiled, Kristina Marie Johnson, Hunter Dustin Broussard, Steven Johnson and Robert Johnson; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family of the heart.  

Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until 2:30 PM on Wednesday January 2, 2019 at Johnson Funeral Home. A rosary will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday. Graveside services will follow at 3:00 PM at Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.
