Welsh – Ernest James Mallett, born in Welsh on August 23, 1941, son of the late Horace and Eliza (Monceaux) Mallett, passed away on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at the age of eighty-three.
Ernest, a member of Our Lady of Seven Dolors, and worked for John Deere of Welsh until he retired. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, crabbing, cooking, being outdoors, and loved animals.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Vera Joy Mallett; brothers, Eugene and Clyde Mallett.
Ernest is survived by his children, Katrina Cunningham (Johnny) of Sterlington, LA; Patrick Mallett (Cheryl); Bradley Mallett, both of Welsh; siblings, Milton Mallett (Wanda Faye), Wilson Mallett (Vickie), and Lillie Brown; 2 grandchildren, Neil & Matthew Mallett; 3 great-grandchildren, Caden, Toryn & Leon Mallett, and 3 grand-dog, Rip, Ravin, and Izzy.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa on Thursday, February 27, 2025 at 6:30 p.m. Gathering of friends and family will begin in the funeral home at 5 p.m. ~ 7 p.m. with a rosary recited at 6 p.m. Cremation will follow the gathering under the direction of Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa.
