Ernest Lee Vincent, age 93, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of faith, family, and service to his community. Born on January 24, 1933, in Cameron, Louisiana, Ernest was the beloved son of Durphy Vincent and Ruby Trahan Vincent.
A proud graduate of Creole High School, Class of 1951, Ernest carried the values of hard work, integrity, and commitment throughout his life. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army. His faith was a steady foundation, reflected in his longtime involvement with the Knights of Columbus. He was a 4th Degree Knight with the Msgr. Cramer 4th Degree Assembly and a member of the St. Mary of the Lake 3rd Degree Council, roles he held with pride and devotion.
Ernest had a servant’s heart, especially when it came to young people. For many years, he generously gave his time as a little league baseball coach, shaping not only athletes but young lives. He coached at A.A. Nelson Elementary School, Dixie Youth Baseball in Grand Lake, and South Lake Charles Little League, leaving a lasting impression on countless families. He was also a dedicated member of the Optimist Club of Lake Charles, serving as its president in 1972.
An outdoorsman at heart, Ernest found joy in hunting and fishing, but nothing brought him greater happiness than his family. His greatest pleasure was watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow, cheering them on and sharing in every milestone he could.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Valerie Fontenot Vincent; his children, Candace Vincent Crump (Michael), Coy Vincent (Bonnie), Craig Vincent (Mitzi), and Casey Vincent (Kristin); seventeen grandchildren; thirty-three great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; and his brother, Stephen Vincent.
Ernest was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Weldon “Sno” Vincent.
A funeral service honoring Ernest’s life will be held at 6:30 PM on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel, located at 4321 Lake Street in Lake Charles, with Msgr. James Gaddy presiding. Visitation will take place at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4:00 PM until the time of service, with a rosary to be recited at 6:00 PM, with military honors following the service.
