Ervin Joseph Lantz, 92, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Ervin was born on December 24, 1933, in Basile, Louisiana, to Leonard and Mary Lantz.
A hardworking and dedicated man from a young age, Ervin began working at Billups Gas Station at just 15 years old. By 17, he had earned the role of manager and eventually went on to supervise ten gas stations before his retirement.
Ervin enjoyed life's simple pleasures. He loved playing pool, waxing his vehicles to perfection, and bowling. He was a devoted Catholic and a proud member of the Knights of Columbus at St. Henry's Catholic Church for a few years.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Della Marie Bergeaux Lantz; his children, Diana Hall; Wayne Lantz and Virginia; and Greg Lantz and wife Beverly. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren; his siblings, Gertie Manuel and Lee Allen Lantz; and numerous loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his grandson, Jacob Lantz; and numerous sisters and brothers.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 23, 2026, at St. Theodore Catholic Church. Visitation will begin Monday morning at Johnson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m., with a rosary being recited at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Saint Augustine Catholic Cemetery in Basile, Louisiana.
