Estelle Fontenot Godeaux

Estelle Fontenot Godeaux, 92, passed to eternal rest on Thursday, October 6, 2016 in the comfort of her home surrounded by her family.

Mrs. Godeaux was a native of Ville Platte, LA and a resident of Lake Charles for the past 60 years. She was a member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Mrs. Godeaux worked several years as a nurse’s aid and later as a private sitter. She also worked with her husband at Honeycutt’s Furniture in Westlake as a secretary. After retiring she owned and operated Fabrics Plus for eleven years.

She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Diane Godeaux and Dot Carnahan and husband Jim; and one son, Oscar Godeaux all of Lake Charles; two sisters; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Wilbert Godeaux; a granddaughter, Christian Burgin; and three siblings.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, October 10, 2016 at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Rev. Matthew Cormier will officiate. Interment will follow in Prien Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will begin on Sunday from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM with a rosary being recited at 5:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Monday from 9:00 AM until leaving for the church at 10:45 AM.
