Esther Loraine Silcox

LeBleu Settlement- Esther Loraine Silcox, 79, was born April 21, 1935 on Easter Sunday. She passed from this life Tuesday, December 16, 2014 in a local hospital. In her younger days, she belonged to the 2nd Avenue Baseball League where she played fast & slow pitch baseball. She worked at Anthony’s Department Store and was the top seller and retired from Boudreaux’s New Drug store after 21 years. Esther loved to gamble, play bingo and loved Cajun dancing and she was a member of the C F M A. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic and a member of the Ladies Altar Society.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Donna Young (Sonny) of LeBleu Settlement; son, Jerry Benoit (Debbie) of Lake Charles; grandchildren, Michael Shannon Miller, Noah Miller (Trey) all of LeBleu Settlement, Lee Benoit (Courtney) and Brittany Benoit, all of Lake Charles; great-grandchildren, Faith Benoit, Kyson Benoit, all of Lake Charles, Ethan Cope of Henryville, IN; sisters, Norma Spikes of DeRidder, Adrienne Broussard (Orgy) of LeBleu Settlement; sister-in-law, Lucille Hebert of Lake Charles; loving companion, Floyd Fontenot; caregiver, Shyndell Broussard. Those preceding her in death are the father of her children, Ernie Benoit; husband, Wilbert Silcox; parents, Joe and Ida Hebert; sister, Audrey Roberts; brother, Joseph Lee Hebert and her precious daughter, Mary Elizabeth Manuel.
Funeral services will be in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home on Thursday, December 18, 2014 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Andreas Kedati officiating. Burial will follow in LeBleu Cemetery in LeBleu Settlement. Visitation is Wednesday from 2 p.m. until 9 p.m. with a rosary at 6:30 p.m. and continues Thursday from 8 a.m. until the time of service.
