Ethel Theriot Conner Moore

September 1, 1932 — May 10, 2021

Ethel Theriot Conner Moore, 88, of Lake Charles passed from this life at Camelot Brookside under the care of Lamm Family Care Hospice on May 10, 2021. Ethel was born to Leah and Hubert Theriot on September 1, 1932 in Creole, LA, where she lived for some time before moving to Grand Chenier. After Hurricane Audrey she moved back and forth from Grand Chenier to Lake Charles and Grand Lake finally settling in Lake Charles, LA. She was a loving and caring person; everyone that met her fell in love with “Sweet Ms. Ethel.”

Ethel was a stay at home mother, raising all her children before being employed by the Cameron Parish School Board, as a cook in the cafeteria at Grand Chenier Elementary School. She also worked as a receptionist and dental assistant for Dr. Marck Smythe in Creole. She enjoyed visiting with family and friends, playing cards, baking and cooking. Her specialty was the perfect hen jambalaya and she baked the best chocolate cake; but her favorite past time was listening and dancing to Cajun Music, saying “Shake a Leg.”

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters; Linda Conner Saltzman (Ollan) of Kinder, La and Elizabeth Conner Riggs (Danny) of Livingston, TX; sister; Louanna Thibodeaux of Rayne, LA; daughter-in-law; JoAnn Conner of Grand Lake, LA; 5 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren with 1 on the way; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.

Welcoming her beautiful soul into Heaven with open arms are her parents; her loving husband and father of her children, Alvin “Pecan” Conner; loving husband Gilbert “Pops” Moore; sons; James “Butch” Conner, Carrol “Penu” Conner and infant son Carl Alvin Conner.

A special thank you goes to the staff and her nurses at Camelot Brookside and Lamm Family Care Hospice.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at 1 p.m. in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa, Father Roland Vaughn, Celebrant.
