Ethelie Breaux, 91, formerly of Lake Charles, died Tuesday January 26, 2016 at a Shreveport hospital after a brief illness.
Ethelie was a native of Leonville, LA and a longtime resident of Lake Charles. She took pride in her home and family and was a longtime member of St. Margaret Catholic Church. Ethelie was the honored recipient of a Life Membership award for her over thirty years of dedicated volunteer service to Christus Saint Patrick Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alexandre and Rosa Lalonde Gauthreaux; infant brother, Nathaniel Gauthreaux; sister, Mabel Gauthreaux Thibodeaux; and loving husband of 61years, Roy J. Breaux. She leaves to honor and cherish her memories her daughter, Mary Rosalind Breaux Savant, Shreveport; grandson, Timothy Savant and wife Denise, Shreveport; great grandson, Ezekiel “Zeke” Savant; God Children, Cheryl Rivette, Tim Cagle, and Phillip Guilbeau; extended family, Marie Louise Breaux Schexnailder and husband Joe, Vernon Breaux and wife Cinny, Gus Breaux and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be on Friday January 29, 2016 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Johnson Funeral Home Funeral Home, with a Rosary to be recited at 1:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 2:00 PM Friday January 29 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church with Father Brian King and Deacon Glenn Viau officiating. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens alongside her beloved husband.
The family would like to extend a special word of gratitude to Cheryl Rivette and Kathy Pitre for the love, time and devotion shown to them during Ethelie’s illness.
