Eugenia Brewington

Eugenia “Jean” Brewington, 91, passed away on September 6, 2025 in Sulphur, LA. She was born on June 5, 1935 in Jennings, Louisiana to Felix and Amelian Hargrave Roya.

She was a founding member of St. John Bosco Catholic Community in Westlake, where she served on the Deanery Committee and held the role of President of the Ladies Altar Society multiple times. She also contributed to many other church ministries and was actively involved with the Westlake Senior Citizens Center.

She is survived by her daughter, Clemence “Clem” Chesson; her sons, Joseph Comeaux, Jr. and Martin Comeaux; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; her sister, Linda Martin; her two brothers, Clifford “C.J.” Roya and Dean Roya; and her loyal canine companion, Josie.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Felix and Amelian Roya; and her children, Melanie Ruth Comeaux, Charles Edward “Chuck” Comeaux, Regina Amelian “Gina” Comeaux, and Patricia Lea “Patti” Comeaux; and her siblings, Geneva Lejeune, Lawrence Roya and John Roya.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 Noon on Wednesday, September 10, 2025 at St. John Bosco Catholic Church, 1301 Sampson St., Westlake, LA, with Rev. Rojo A. Palatty Koonathan serving as Celebrant. Burial will follow in Westlake Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be in the Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles Chapel, 4321 Lake St., Lake Charles, LA on Tuesday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM, with a rosary being recited at 6:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Wednesday morning at 9:00 AM, continuing until leaving in procession to the church.
